LUKAS STEPANIK
Producer, Director
Lukas Stepanik is an Austrian director-writer, who has made twenty films (documentaries, feature films, TV-series) and co-produced many more. His feature film Gebirtig (2002)—about Holocaust survivor Hermann Gebirtig, who emigrated to New York after WWII, where he enjoyed a successful career as a composer of musicals and hit songs—was the Austrian nominee for the Oscars in
2003. He is a professor at the Vienna Film Academy. Extrafilm—his production company together with Bernd Neuburger — was founded in 1980.
BERNADETTE WEGENSTEIN
Producer, Director
Austrian-born Bernadette Wegenstein is a Research Professor at the Johns Hopkins University, where she directs the Center for Advanced Media Studies at. She produced the documentary Made Over in America (Icarusfilms, 2007), exploring the culture of extreme makeover shows. She is currently in post-production for a documentary on the renowned conductor, Marin Alsop.
PATRICK WRIGHT
Editor
Patrick Wright co-produced and was associate editor for Music By Prudence
which won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Short. He has made films
on HIV/AIDS, clergy sexual abuse and a profile of Ann Coulter. Wright currently is Chair of the Video and Film Arts Department at the Maryland Institute College of Art.
ALLEN MOORE
Director of Photography
Baltimore-based Allen Moore is an independent filmmaker: producing, directing, photographing, and editing his own 16mm documentary work. He has worked as a director of photography
for several of Ken Burns historical films shown on PBS, including the multi-part series The Civil War and Baseball, the two-part series, Thomas Jefferson, as well as Lewis and Clark, Mark Twain, and Horatios Drive. Moore's cinematography for The Civil War and, most recently, The National Parks: America's Best Idea, captured a national audience. He is a professor at Maryland Institute College of Art in the Video and Film Arts Department.
GARRET GUIDERA
Director of Photography
Garrett Guidera is a former student of
AllenMoore’s. He is a Baltimore native
who now lives in Los Angeles. He works
as independent cinematographer, editor,
visual effects artist and a music video director. His documentary work has spanned from shooting independently for short and long form documentaries. Most notably he has documented the success of KIPP charter schools both locally and nationally.
VALENTINA CANCELLI
Production Manager and Assistant Director
Valentina Cancelli is an independent Austro-Italian curator. She studied art and film history in Vienna and is currently working on her first documentary film. In 2010 she founded the association Carnevale, a platform for cultural projects, focusing on Italian Cinema. She organized several international exhibitions, film festivals and is currently working for a contemporary art publishing house.
MELANIE BUEHLER
Post-Production Manager
Melanie Bühler holds an MA in History from
the University of Zürich, specializing in the
historical transformation of visual culture in a
national context. After completing her study
she worked as a production assistant for
teamstratenwerth, located in Basel. From
June 2009 until August 2010 she coordinated
the cultural program of the Goethe-Institut
Amsterdam. In Baltimore, she was the post-production manager for the documentary film See You Soon Again.
JUDITH RIFESER
Post-Production Assistant
Judith, our post-production assistant with
Austro-Bavarian roots, became part of the team in September 2011. She followed her passion for modern Spanish literature, foreign language pedagogy, media and gender studies all the way to Baltimore, joining the Department of German and Romance Languages and Literature at Johns Hopkins and making Charm City her home for a year.
MATT DAVIES
Sound
Matt Davies is a former student of Allen
Moore and a 2009 graduate of MICA's Video
and Film Arts Department. He is a freelance
sound man who's work spans from production sound recordist to post-production sound designer. Matt has worked on several documentaries to date, most notably as a Production Assistant, Sound Recordist and Post-Production Sound Editor for Music by Prudence, winner of the 2010 Oscar for Best Documentary Short.
JAY LAWSON
Sound
Jay Lawson is a local writer, producer and
musician. Born and raised in Baltimore, Jay
seems to be involved with anything and
everything using music and or art to promote
this city and all its creative people. He has
worked with Black Entertainment Television
(On Air Talent, Award Show Prod. 2002-2007
) and is currently working on a new music
project with plans on organizing more events
displaying the talents of local artists.
